My methods are a bit outside of the box

because I'm looking you and your body as a whole

Hi! I'm Dr. Aissa McGuirl

I have always been in love with movement of all types: basketball, soccer, running, dance, gymnastics, track, roller blading, etc. At the same time, my body has always been sensitive. This has brought me on a long but beautiful journey.

I decided right out of high school that I was going to be a physical therapist. After 7 years straight, I received my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Hartford in 2017. While in grad school, I worked in the fitness setting, training clients and myself. I always said, “I was training for the Olympics.” No particular event, but I just always wanted to “be ready to compete in anything.” Even with all I knew about the body, the medical field, and fitness, I suffered from multiple unexplained injuries and symptoms for which no doctor could give me a solution. Then, when I had my daughter in 2021, I learned the hard way how the process of having a baby changes your body.

Over the years, I have dove further and further into understanding the “why’s” and “how’s” of the human body at the deepest level. What I have learned is that there’s more to what we have been traditionally taught, and things are not just black and white. My love of learning, movement, and helping people has led me to my unique methods: to reduce our pain and weird symptoms, improve our functionality, gain strength, and transform our bodies and health so we can be the absolute best version of ourself.

Our bodies are amazing when we understand them and give them what it needs. I believe we should not only be symptom-free but also confident and resilient in our one-of-a-kind bodies.  We should also have the tools to do this for the rest of our lives. This is why I teach big-picture fitness and lifestyle. This is holistic fitness by “connecting the body dots”.

The body is so amazing if you just give it what it needs

better movement, better nourishment from food, and better lifestyle habits based on your individual differences.

In the “why’s” you pull out so many useful pieces of information that tell you more about the big picture… because you are not just a person that wants to be out of pain, wants to lose weight, feel confident in your body, have more energy, or just be overall healthy...

we are such dynamic creatures, and when you know why and how all these things connect, and you are able to apply it your individual difference...you are able to live the most fulfilling life: in terms of health, your appearance, and and how you show up each day.
